I was delighted to be awarded a RHS Silver Gilt Medal for my photographic panel, entitled 'Whispers of Petals' in the RHS BotanicalArt and Photography Competition.

The images of flowers were processed in a High Key way, slightly resembling pencil drawings. This was the artist's statement that accompanied my entry.
Whisper’s of Petals
soft light through petals
whispers of fleeting beauty —
a breath, then silence
With this panel of six flowers, I rendered each bloom in monochrome, stripping away colour to focus on tone, structure, and the subtle transitions of light. A high key approach just suggests their presence with delicate traces, highlighting both the fragility and the ephemeral nature of these flowers. The absence of colour invites slower contemplation—drawing attention to nuanced petals, veins, and graceful curves, rather than the distraction of hue. Each image captures a moment where minute detail transforms into abstraction, allowing the ordinary to become ethereal.
The selected flowers showcase a diversity of varieties and forms, with blooms that span all seasons. Thanks to technological and agricultural advances, many flowers are now available year-round, reflecting nature’s richness and its perpetual change. Through the lens, fleeting moments and my seasonal favourites are captured.
The Six flowers featured are:
Tulip:  Tulipa spp
Lissanthus:  Eustoma grandiflorum
Calla Lily:  Zantedeschia aethiopica
Crocus: Crocus
Iris: Iris  Hollandica Blue Magic
Cyclamen: Cyclamen persicum
